Revolusi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, YPAN dan Kabupaten Banyuwangi Perkuat Lingkungan Berbahasa Inggris di Sekolah

Banyuwangi, 14 November 2024 – A successful collaboration between Yayasan Pendidikan Adiluhung Nusantara (YPAN), the Banyuwangi Regency Government, and the Association of All Indonesian Regency Governments (APKASI) culminated in the Mini English Camp “Ant System,” which catered to five selected schools in the Banyuwangi area. This engaging event took place over four days, from November 11 to 14, 2024, at the Aston Banyuwangi Hotel & Conference Center. The primary goal was to enhance teachers’ skills in English instruction and foster a supportive English-learning environment for students.

The opening ceremony was led by Mr. Suratno, S.Pd, M.M., the Head of the Banyuwangi Education Office, who remarked, “The introduction of the ‘Ant System’ method is expected to create a conducive ecosystem that continuously motivates and encourages students to improve their English language skills in schools.”

Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Fais Bayu Wicaksono, Chairman of the YPAN Banyuwangi Branch, emphasized the significance of mastering English in today’s globalized world. “English is the key to unlocking opportunities on an international scale. Hence, with ‘Ant System’, we aim to present creative, innovative, and easily applicable English learning strategies in schools,” he stated.

Ant System: Fostering Active English Communication in Schools

The “Ant System” approach itself is a dynamic method for teaching English that emphasizes real-world applications and enjoyable learning experiences. Throughout the four days, participants engaged in various activities, including a Training of Trainers (TOT) program, where they were trained to become English trainers using the “Ant System” method, enabling them to instruct other teachers at their respective schools. This was followed by a session on the Ant System Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), where attendees learned the standardized processes for implementing the “Ant System.” Finally, there were discussions and practical applications, allowing participants to share strategies for applying the method in their schools and to create actionable plans.

With the Mini English Camp “Ant System,” there is hope for a significant enhancement in the quality of English education throughout Banyuwangi. Teachers who have completed this training are expected to serve as role models and inspire their peers to cultivate an English-speaking environment within their schools.

YPAN remains committed to improving the quality and equity of education across Indonesia through targeted and high-quality training programs. By collaborating with various stakeholders, including local governments, YPAN aims to establish a conducive learning ecosystem throughout the nation, aspiring to nurture a generation of Indonesians ready to tackle global challenges.
